Vernon Taylor

October 26, 1979 — December 29, 2015

Sammy passed away Dec. 29th, 2015 Benefis Hospital from a stroke due to prior head injuries. His organs were donated so others could live. Cremation has taken place.

Sammy was born Oct. 26th 1979 in Independence, Louisiana. He was raised in Pine Louisiana and went to school in Varnado, Louisiana. He came to Choteau in the summer of 2013 to work with his Aunt Deanna Styren. Later he worked for James Pilchner in Fairfield, road construction for Diana Russel in Choteau and recently at John Henrys Restaurant. He was always willing to help others and had a passion and a gift for cooking. His specialty was cooking southern Gumbo and Jambalaya. Sammy had a wonderful and uplifting personality and had the ability to make you laugh. A service will be held at Gorder-Jensen Funeral Home in Choteau, January 4th at 4 pm followed by a luncheon at the Choteau American Legion.

Sam is survived by his mother Rhonda Morris Miley from Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; James V. Taylor of Columbia, Mississippi; Sister Deedee Taylor Woodward of Pine, Louisiana. Grandma Dee Pool of Augusta, Montana. Sam had 3 nieces he loved very much, Crystal Woodward, Martha (Jeremy) Thomas, Charley Woodward. Three great nieces Alexus, Abby and Cassidee. One great Nephew Cameron; all of Louisiana. Sammy had special cousins in Montana; Julie, Chase, Rhett, and Britta Young; Becky Kujava, Gloria Griggs; Marlin, Luke and Dylan Styren; and many more. His Great Aunts of Choteau, Shirley Spinder, Deanna Styren as well as Betty Styren of Brady.

Sammy was a member of The Sons of the Legion, Post # 61, in Choteau.

Sammy loved his family and spending time with them at reunions and holidays. He called Charley "Pookie" and "Cletus". Martha said he loved his nieces more than the world. Crystal loved him and they picked on each other constantly.

He was preceded in death by a brother Del Taylor and Grandfather James Taylor.
