S. Bachmeier

S.J. "Buck" Bachmeier age 96 of Cody, WY formerly of Choteau, MT died September 20, 2014, at West Park Hospital ten days short of 97 years young in Cody, WY.



Born in Yates, MT (near Wibaux) on September 30, 1917, he lived on the family farm until his 15th birthday. During the Great Depression, he boarded a train for Missoula where he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps and the Forest Service. He married Nellie Marie Cox, of Augusta, on August 16, 1939. Buck worked various jobs around Augusta and in Oregon before he was drafted into the Army. Discharged in 1945, he went to work for the Chevrolet dealership in Choteau, MT. He worked in various positions - grease monkey, mechanic, service manager, and parts manager - until 1964 when he opened his own garage and operated it with his wife, Marie, until he retired in 1984. He enjoyed tinkering, fixing things, and wood projects (especially making toys) for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman loving hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He was active in a variety of groups in Choteau including Boy Scouts, and sportsman clubs. He was always willing to give a helping hand to the community as well as family and friends.



In 2006, after sixty-two years of living in Choteau, he moved to Cody, WY to be with his daughter Linda.



His wife, N. Marie Bachmeier and a grandson Brian Bachmeier preceded him in death.



He is survived by his children: Ralph of Bellingham, WA; Richard (Margaret) Bachmeier of Arlee, MT; and Linda Bachmeier of Cody, WY.



Grandchildren: Marc (Leann), Eric (Aimee), Jon (Jess), and Greg (Stephanie) Bachmeier; Brenda (Kevin) Messner.



Great-Grandchildren: Chase, Cole, Alden, Uma, and Paul Bachmeier; Tara and Tyrel Messner.



Funeral services will take place on September 26 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Choteau, MT with burial in the Choteau cemetery. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the funeral mass.
