Robert "Bob" Merle Dauwalder, 92, passed away September 28, 2025 in Choteau, MT. Bob was born April 17th, 1933, 10 minutes in front of his identical twin, Richard in Choteau, to Walter and Irene (Jones) Dauwalder.
Bob attended and graduated from Choteau High School. He met the love of his life, Judy Meyer in Choteau, and they were married a year later in Judy's home town of Conrad, MT on September 21st, 1961. Bob went on to graduate from Montana State University Bozeman in 1964.
Between the years of 1961 and 1995 Bob and Judy resided in the communities of Choteau, Great Falls, Bozeman, Libby, Missoula, Chinook, Chester, and Dutton.. Then returning to Choteau in 2024.
Being inseparable, Bob and his twin brother joined the army together, both training to be radio operators and while using Morris Code. To their astonishment and joy, they were both stationed in Germany at the same base. The posting provided Bob with a surprising position as the Post Commander's chauffeur. Lots of great stories came from there.
Bob's work through the years included farming, working on oil rigs, administration for the Forest Service, security for Boeing when they were building the missile sites in the Great Falls area, and then in banking as an intern, Vice President and President in Chinook, Chester, and Dutton, all while he and Judy made lifelong friends.
Bob always enjoyed being involved in various organizations in the community he and Judy resided in. Everywhere they lived, they were active members of the Methodist Church. In Chinook he was an active member of the JC's, and in Chester, the Lion's Club. In Dutton, he was a member of the Legion, the Civic's Club and for over 20 years, a councilman for the Dutton City Council.
Bob enjoyed sports and loved cheering for his beloved Montana State Bobcats and the Chicago Cubs. While living in Chester, he cheered his kids on in all of their sporting events and other activities as Chester Coyotes. He enjoyed driving all of the Fords and Lincolns of his life. One of his favorites was a 1950 red Ford convertible. He also loved captaining his boat on Tiber and Whitefish Lake while pulling the kids on water skies. He so enjoyed visiting with family and friends, sharing precious stories from his days living on the farm in Bole especially. Having been raised in the towns of Choteau and Bole he had many memories, most if not all with his twin brother. A favorite was at age 5, helping their dad with cropland measuring, Bob and his brother drove their dad's model A, one managing the steering wheel while the other the pedals.
