Robert Bryant

May 18, 1963 — May 13, 2022

Robert Leslie Bryant "OBY1", 58 of Choteau, went to rest on May 13, 2022. He loved to laugh and make other people laugh and always enjoyed telling a good joke. He touched many hearts and was known from using quips such as "no doubt" or "innit". A celebration of Life will be held July 9, 2022 at 3:00pm in the Gorder-Jensen Funeral Home Chapel in Choteau; with a potluck reception following at the Choteau City Park.

Bob was born May 18, 1963 in Choteau, Montana to Ardith and Robert Bryant. Being incredibly precocious, he learned the "heart" of an engine at an early age. He had an ear for them; knowing how they should sound when running. He accomplished his first engine rebuild at about 12 or 13 years old.

In 1982 Bob fell in love with Shawnee Snyder. During their 15-year relationship they were blessed with two beautiful children, Shanel in 1989 and Tyler in 1992. He loved his children with his whole heart.

Bob married Sharon "Sue" Oberly in 1997 in Choteau. Sharon had a daughter previously, Terri Anne, whom Bob cared for very much. The family moved to South Dakota for a short time. Soon after their marriage dissolved and Bob moved back home to Montana.

Bob chose an independent and simple lifestyle. He spent most of his life in Choteau and some time in Helena and Great Falls. Bob was a seasonal farm hand, occasionally. He worked construction with Ted Hinderiger at Richem Construction and he worked independently as a mechanic. He was a "McGyver" mechanic, who could fix a broke down vehicle enough to getting you back on the road with what he had to work with in the vehicle. Older car models were his forte. He was "carburetor king" mastering the cleaning and rebuilding of any carburetor. He relished his talent to complete an engine rebuild "from pull to install" overnight. He enjoyed fast motors, loud snappy exhausts and burnouts. Not only did he love cars but he enjoyed model cars, camping and fishing as well.

Bob is survived by his son Tyler Bryant and daughter Shanel Bryant and their mother and his life long friend Shawnee Snyder all of Choteau, Montana. Sisters Kaylee (Karl) Kalista and Arleen Hibbard, five grandchildren and many nephews and great nephews and many cousins in Ohio.

Bob was preceded in death by his mom, Ardith Rose (Ameline) Bryant; father, Robert Bryant; wife, Sue Oberly and good friends Rick Simonson, Arnold Schattilly and Elmer "Fudd" West, all of whom nicknamed him "Indian".
