Olive Elain (Newman) Passmore passed away February 17, 2023 at Benefis Peace Hospice in Great Falls, Montana; She was 92 years old. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Gorder-Jensen Funeral Home and a private graveside service will take place, where Olive and her dearly departed Don will be laid to rest together. A memorial service will take place at a later date.
Olive was born in Conrad, Montana on August 2, 1930 to Guy and Blanche Newman. She lived in Bynum until 1948, when she graduated from Choteau High School. After graduation Olive moved to Choteau and worked at the telephone company as an operator.
Olive married Donald C. Passmore on May 11, 1949 in Choteau. He was in the service at the time and they headed for Randolph Air Force Base, near San Antonio, Texas. Olive worked for the telephone company in Seguin, Texas for two years.
The couple returned to the family farm, near Choteau on November 19, 1952. They adopted four children. Olive was active in the United Methodist Church and was past Noble Grand of the Queen Rebekah Lodge #31. She and her husband, Don, were District Marshalls of the Masonic Lodge. As Marshalls, their responsibilities included installing the station officers in four other towns in their regional district.
Olive is survived by her daughter Cecile Hanes; six grandchildren - Justin Hardison, Jackie Hardison, Rachel Lightner, Matt Passmore, Andy Passmore and Parker Passmore as well as 13 Great-Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four siblings and three children - Gene, Janice and Gary.
