Matthew Skelton, 29, of Conrad, Montana, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2020 in Big Sandy, Montana.



A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 11, 2020 at Choteau Cemetery. Arrangements are by Gorder-Jensen Funeral Home.



Matthew was born in Conrad on August 22, 1991 to Steven and Alison Skelton. He attended the Conrad Christian School and Bynum Elementary as a child. He graduated from Choteau High School in 2010. Matt was an avid hunter, trapper and fisherman. He had a great love of all animals, especially dogs, and those he cared for in 4-H and on the family farm. He never met a stranger and made friends wherever he went. Matt had an infectious laugh and a quick joke for any who would listen.



Matthew passed away at Big Sandy Medical Center. He succumbed to his 19 year battle with MERRF syndrome surrounded by his immediate family.



Matthew is preceded in death by his grandparents Theodore (Ted) Skelton and Oleta (Beth) Brickey.



Matthew is survived by his grandparents William (Bill) Brickey and Dorothy Skelton, mother Alison Skelton, father and stepmother Steven and Billie Skelton, sister Cassy and Rodney Carrell, stepsisters Katie and Will Dodson, Heidi and Kristian Moller, Jessie and Hank Bader and Becki and Stephen Quinonez and nieces and nephews Myles Skelton, Cole, Brooklyn and Brody Carrell, Roman and Oaklynn Dodson and Miriam, Mariam Moller, Payton and Thatcher Quinonez.



Pallberares will be Robbie Larsen, Rod Carrell, Will Dodson, Hank Bader, Stephen Quinonez, Jeff Quackenbush and Brent Brandow.



Memorial and Donation may be sent to Big Sandy Medical Center and the ALS Association. A special thanks to the staff of Big Sandy Medical Center for your above and beyond care and compassion for Matthew during his stay and the family in the end.
