Leona Perin

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on April 7, 2012 at the Dutton United Methodist Church for Leona Lorraine "Lee" Perin, age 75, of Dutton, MT who died Monday, March 26, 2012 at the Teton Medical Center Extended Care Unit in Choteau, MT from complications of a stroke. A reception will be held at the Dutton American Legion Hall following the memorial services. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Gorder Jensen Funeral Home of Choteau. Interment of her cremated remains will be in the Dutton Cemetery at a later date.



Lee was born November 13, 1936 in Great Falls, MT, the daughter of John and Ivy Crawford Walsted. She was raised and educated in Great Falls and Dutton, graduating in 1954. She married Donald Johnson in 1955 and had three children together before divorcing in 1976. In her early years, she was a homemaker, farmer and rancher. The couple also owned and operated a Conoco Gas Station in East Glacier, MT. before moving to Choteau, MT.



After moving to Post Falls, ID in 1976, Lee worked at Boise Cascade Homes and Don's Pool Hall until a stroke caused her early retirement. During this time she was married to Bob Englehart and then Gordon Perin both of Post Falls.



As a young mother, Lee enjoyed cooking and sewing, then later, playing pool, camping, pinochle, gardening and playing Bingo and always spending time with her family and friends.



In August of 2004, after 28 years in Idaho, she returned to her hometown of Dutton. She enjoyed living at the Sunshine Trail Lodge and being closer to her family and friends.



Lee was a member of the Eagles VFW Post in Post Falls, the Dutton Methodist Church and the American Legion Women's Auxiliary in Dutton.



She is survived by her daughter, Sandy (Larry) Klotz of Missoula, MT; a son, Rick Johnson of Dutton; a brother, Jay Walsted of Post Falls; and two granddaughters: Rachael (Jake) Donovan and Alyssa Klotz, both of Missoula.



She was preceded in death by her father, John Walsted, her mother, Ivy Crawford Isakson, an infant daughter at birth, a daughter, Dawn Lee Johnson, and sisters, Floy Eller and Lavina Peightal.
