Joyce Welch

Joyce Laura Welch, 90, of Augusta, Montana, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025. She was born on September 5, 1935, in Bengough, Saskatchewan, to Manuel Fenner and Caroline Lorraine (Rayson) Fenner. At the age of five, Joyce moved with her family to Montana, where she grew up and made her lifelong home.

Joyce attended Augusta High School, where she met the love of her life, Clifford Welch. The two were married in 1953, beginning a union that would last 46 years until Clifford's passing. Together, they built a life filled with love, community, and dedication to their family and friends.

Joyce was deeply devoted to her community and her country. She was a proud and loyal 60-year member of the Augusta American Legion, where she gave her time and energy to countless events and causes. Her involvement extended to Girls State, where she supported leadership opportunities for young women, and to the Special Olympics, where her kindness and enthusiasm touched many lives.

Joyce will be remembered for her warm heart, steady spirit, and her lifelong commitment to serving others. She leaves behind family and friends who were blessed by her generosity and her unwavering sense of community.

Joyce is survived by her son, Ed Welch (Debbie) of Augusta, MT; Grandchildren; Amee Welch of Nocatee, FL, Brendan Welch of Satellite Beach, FL; Great grandson, Tyler Welch, USAF.

Proceeding her in death are her parents; Husband, Clifford Welch in 1989; Son, Jay Welch in 1991, four brothers and one sister.

A memorial service for Joyce will be held this Spring in Augusta, MT. Memorial donations can be made in Joyce's name to the Augusta American Legion or Montana Special Olympics.
