Joseph McLoughlin

June 22, 1966 — November 1, 2021

Joseph John "Joe" McLoughlin, 55 of Choteau, passed away suddenly, November 1, 2021 at Benefis Hospital in Great Falls after a brief battle with illness. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Gorder-Jensen Funeral Home and a Celebration of Life is scheduled for November 20, 2021 at 2:00 pm at the New Life Church in Choteau.

Joe, known to some as "Purple Ape" or "Bo" and those he cared for most deeply as "Uncle Fluffy", was born June 22, 1966 in Choteau to Tiny (Carrier) McLoughlin and was soon after adopted by his father Jerrald McLoughlin. Joe grew up in Choteau and attended and graduated from Choteau High School with the class of 1986.

After high school Joe moved to Great Falls where he worked at Conlin's Furniture and the Playground Lounge as a bouncer. Joe took the Certified Nursing Assistant courses and passed the test obtaining his CNA certification. He then worked for Missouri River Manor and also did some home health care. Setting his sights on living abroad, he moved to Ohio for a year before moving back to the place he had always called home, Choteau. After moving home, he worked in Conrad at the County Nursing Home and eventually settled into working for home health care.

Joe enjoyed video games, watching tv, going to the movie theater and hunting. Above all else Joe loved spending time with family and friends, especially his "little one's". Joe never had any children of his own but he always cared for everyone else's kids as if they were his. He was known as a gentle giant, and a big teddy bear, with a heart bigger than anyone else. He always put everyone else's wants and needs before his own. He was everyone's rock during hard times and his renowned hugs will be sorely missed.

Joe is survived by his siblings Turk, Chico, Jeri and Crystal McLoughlin all of Choteau; his nieces and nephews, Nita, Shaylynn, Daymain, Daysha, Daynen and Silas "Peanut"; four great-nieces and great-nephews Nevaeh, Dyami, Antoine and Cataleya as well as numerous extended family members in the Choteau and Rocky Boy areas.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents Jerrald and Tiny McLoughlin, his maternal and paternal grandparents and numerous aunts, uncles and extended family.

In lieu of flowers donations in Joe's name can be made to the Choteau Senior Center.
