John J. A. Wisse

John J. A. Wisse passed away on September 17, 2026, in Choteau, Montana, at the age of 100.

John was born on April 16, 1926, in Kapelle, Zeeland, the Netherlands, to Jan "John" and Jacoba "Jane" Wisse. In 1946, following the end of World War II, John immigrated to the United States with his newlywed wife, Greda. They came to America seeking a new start after the family farm was devastated during the war.

John settled in Montana, where he began leasing land and farming while working toward his dream of owning a farm of his own. He was also employed by General Mills, Inc., while continuing to farm. John farmed for several years after retiring, and even after leasing out his farmland, he remained interested in new farming techniques, equipment, and technology throughout the rest of his life.

John is survived by his three children, Hank (Kelly) Wisse, Jane (Herb) Goetz, and Carl (Lynne) Wisse; five grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren, of whom he was very proud.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Greda; his parents; and six siblings.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
