Jeanne A
Brososky
Oct 19, 1934 — Sep 20, 2026
Jeanne Ann Mills Brososky, 91, of Fort Shaw, Montana, passed away peacefully the morning of Sunday, September 20, 2026.
Jeanne was born October 19, 1934, in Jackson, Michigan, daughter of the late Charles and Ruby Richardson Mills. She graduated from Jackson High School in 1952 and earned her nursing degree from Foote Hospital School of Nursing through Jackson Junior College in 1955.
She went on to work as a registered nurse at Foote Hospital in Jackson. She cared for premature babies at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan, then retired from nursing after 33 years.
On September 8, 1955, Jeanne married Charles Richard "Dick" Brososky at First Methodist Church in Jackson, Michigan. The two met in Ann Arbor and shared 64 years of marriage before his passing in December 2019. They made their homes in Jackson and Saline, Michigan, then moved to Fort Shaw, Montana, and enjoyed 22 years of retirement.
They filled their Montana time with quiet, satisfying pursuits. Jeanne and Dick shared their love of bird watching, canoeing, and nature photography-and also tipping back in recliners after a long day gallivanting.
Jeanne was skilled at sewing, knitting, cross-stitch, painting ceramics, and crossword puzzles. In her last years, she delighted in coloring books. She helped Dick write his memoir, Long Forgotten Letters, and was an avid reader of mysteries and romance. If you find a heart penciled on the first page of a paperback from the Fairfield Pharmacy's free library, then Jeanne read that one.
Her teenage scrapbook has many photos of swimming at Clark Lake with friends in the summer and shoveling snow at her family home in the winter.
Jeanne is survived by her sons, Gregory Charles, James Michael, and Timothy Scott, and her daughter, Dianne Lynn. Jeanne has maybe 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren-we've lost count.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Brososky; her parents, Charles and Ruby Mills; her brothers, Richard and Charles; her in-laws, Wilbur and Wavena Brososky; her brothers-in-law, Dennis and Keith Brososky; her sister-in-law, Glennis Brososky; and her granddaughter, Amanda Stevens Brososky.
No services will be held. Jeanne and Dick's ashes will be interred together at Sunset Hills Cemetery in Fairfield, Montana.
Heartfelt gratitude is extended to her son, Greg, whose devoted care allowed Jeanne to remain at home, and to the compassionate staff of Benefis Peace Hospice for their support in her final weeks.
