Ida Mae (Larson) Alfson passed peacefully away in the early morning on Sunday, September 13, surrounded by her family at Benefis Teton Medical Center.

Ida was born February 13, 1938, in Terry, Montana, to Martin and Louella Larson. She was the second youngest of nine siblings. When she was two months old, the family homesteaded to the Fairfield Bench. She graduated as valedictorian from Fairfield High School in 1956. In 1958, she married Donald Alfson and had one daughter, Linda.

Ida was a stay at home wife and mother until she went to work for Doug Armstrong, DVM; then worked for various accounting firms in Fairfield, as a secretary/assistant. Even after retirement, she still did her families taxes.

Due to health issues, she moved into Linda's house in 2023, until this July, where she went to the Beehive Assisted Living in Choteau. She got to meet her first great, great grandson in June, which really made her so happy.

She had many family members come to visit her, which, even though she didn't hear them very well, still made her smile. Her family meant so much to her. She remembered all birthdays and anniversaries.

Ida was preceded in death by her husband in 2019, her granddaughter, whom she shared a birthday with, Tia Naylor in 2023. Her parents, sister, Blanche (Jim) Ballantyne; brothers: Dan (Ruby) Larson, Earl Larson, Vernon (Mary) Larson, Art (Verna) Larson, and sister-in-law, Sharon Larson.

She is survived by her daughter Linda. Granddaughters, Becky (Tony) Arnold and Samantha Goos. Great Granddaughters, T'Ly and Kiki Taylor, great, great grandson, Ryker. Her brothers
Fred, George and Glen Larson, as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the Beehive Homes for the wonderful care they gave Ida while she was with them. The nurses and staff, especially Lori and Dominique, at BTMC, for the special and gentle care they took with Ida in her final days.

Cremation has taken place by Frontier Funeral Home. A private graveside service will take place at a future date where her and Don will be laid to rest together.

Her service will be Saturday, September 26, 2026; at 11:00am, at the UCC church in Fairfield, with a lunch to follow.
