Eden Edward Norris, age 81, passed away June 16 at Park Place Nursing Home in Great Falls, Montana.
Ed was born June 12, 1944 to John P. and Theresa (Kologi) Norris in Great Falls. He lived on a ranch with his family in Cascade and Fort Shaw before settling in Browning where he attended school and worked the family ranch up until December 2010, when he went to the Elkhorn Health and Rehab. Nursing Home in Clancy. He was an avid horseman and a true cowboy. Ed milked cows before and after school and road the range and roundups in summer. He also raised grain, and put up many tons of hay in his day. Ed made sure that everyone who came to the ranch, regardless of age or skill, got to enjoy riding horseback. He would delight in taking friends and cousins on hikes and drives into Glacier Park. He was an active member of the Little Flower Catholic Parish in which he sang in the choir and often ushered throughout the weekend. He had a sweetheart, Lois (Norton) Jordan of Chinook.
Ed is survived by his nephew, Stephen Trombley, of Spring Valley, CA; nieces, Angela Norris (Brian) Schultz & family of Belgrade, MT; Amy Norris (Brian) Elsmore & family of Columbus, MS; Michelle Swisher Tyson & family of Stevensville, MT; Anna Swisher (Rick) delaRosa & family of Corvallis, MT; and several cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Esther (Norris) Swisher; brother, Jack C. Norris; brother-in-law, Tom Swisher; nephew, Christopher Norris; sister-in-law, Lilly Norris; as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be Monday, 6/23 at 6:00 p.m. followed by a rosary at the Frontier Funeral Home in Choteau. Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Tuesday, 6/24 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a graveside service at the Choteau City Cemetery. Arrangements are at the Frontier Funeral Home, 23 Third St. NW, Choteau, MT.
