Deanna Styren

At the age of 84, Deanna Styren was called home to be with the Lord on September 13, 2022.



Deanna Rae Dyer was born on 08/16/1938 to Lyle George Dyer and Annie Rose McLean Dyer, in Great Falls, Montana. The family was complete when siblings Lyla and Gary were born.



Deanna attended school at Brady, MT, graduating in 1956. In 1955 Deanna was the Conrad Whoop-Up Queen.



Deanna married Herbert Edwin Styren on June 1, 1957 and were married almost 44 years. They moved to the Farmington Bench, North of Choteau, MT, to farm and ranch where they welcomed three children into the world Lorilyn, Marlin, and Julie.



Deanna valued family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, her Church, and community. She was an advocate for agriculture and family farms and ranches.



She was involved in Toast Mistresses, 4-H, Pondera County Farmers Unions Camps, W.I.F.E (Women Involved in Farm Economics), worked as an election judge, traveled with Friendship Force, was a proud member of the Red Hat Society and the Choteau Methodist Church.



She loved traveling and went to the Philippines, Hawaii (Kauai, Oahu, and Maui), Mexico, England, Scotland, Canada, and Jerusalem. Deanna enjoyed cruises to Alaska and Caribbean with friends and family, especially her grandkids and great grandkids. She took train trips to visit family in Montana, Idaho, and Washington State. Those less adventurous marveled that she did this by herself.



Deanna enjoyed sewing and eventually started quilting. For years, Thursdays was reserved for quilting with the girls. They made quilts and formed deep friendships. She looked forward to lunches with the "Brady Gals," her lifelong friends from high school, and would drive to Great Falls just to have coffee with them. Deanna was well known for her love of playing cards, especially pinochle.



Deanna lived in the family home, on the Farmington Bench, from 1957 to 2021, when she moved to Skyline Lodge, in Choteau. She enjoyed this community, making new friends and being close to old friends. Due to the toll of cancer, she moved briefly to Benefis Teton Medical Center. Her children want to thank the staff who provided exceptional, and compassionate care, the last two weeks of her life.



Deanna is survived by her sister, Lyla Dyer of Sunset Beach, North Carolina; sisters-in-law Shirley Spinder of Choteau, and Delores Pool of Augusta. Her children Lorilyn(Jim) Perhay of Eureka, Marlin(Betsy) Styren of Choteau, Julie(Mark) Young of Augusta. Grandchildren Luke and Dylan Styren of Choteau, Chase(Emilee) Young and Rhett (Hailey) Young of Augusta, Britta(Hunter) Ritter of Belgrade. Great Grandchildren Kurtis and Coltyn Styren (Luke) of Choteau, Anders, and Wesley Young (Chase & Emilee), Sawyer, Brooks and Koda Young (Rhett & Hailey) all of Augusta, cousins and numerous nieces and nephews.



Deanna is preceded in death by her husband, Herb Styren, her parents Lyle and Annie Dyer, and her brother Gary Dyer. Her father and mother-in-law, Clarence, and Bertha Styren. Brother and Sister-in-laws: Eugene and Mary Styren, Rader and Irene Neckstad, Ernest and Betty Styren, Lawrence and Betty Styren, Bob and Lois Bernier and Jim Spinder.



Services will be held at the Choteau Methodist Church at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 23, 2022. A reception following at the Stage Stop Inn (Choteau, MT).



Memorials may be given to Choteau Methodist Church (PO Box 108, Choteau, MT 59422}, Choteau Senior Citizens Center (PO Box 1103, Choteau, MT 59422) or the charity of your choice.
