September 8, 1942 — January 18, 2018

Charlene Mary Molenda

Charlene Mary Molenda passed away peacefully on the evening of January 18, 2018 of cancer. Her beloved niece Jeniece Palmer was by her side. Nephew Bill Molenda and wife Verna were in Fairfield to care for her. Charlene was transferred from her home to Benefis Peace Hospice. The compassion they provided will never be forgotten.

"Char" was born in Pittsburg, PA September 1942 to Harry C. Kirshner and Alice Buer Kirshner. After graduating high school at St. Benedict Academy, she worked in retail sales. Char married her first husband Ron Katlecik in 1964. They had 3 children, Ron, Shelly, and Greg. They later divorced.

In 1990 Char married Jim Molenda in Salmon, Idaho. For many years Charlene was known as "the cookie lady", selling homemade goodies at the local farmers' market.

Char is preceded in death by her parents Harry and Alice Kirshner, husband Jim Molenda, son Greg Katlecik, stepdaughter Norma Caizo, and stepson Rick Caizo. She is survived by son Ron and wife Gretchen, daughter Shelly and husband Chad Maurey, grandchildren Thomas, Josh, and Alexas, stepchildren Chuck and wife Suzie Molenda, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Per her request, there will be no services at this time. Her ashes will be placed with Jim at Fort Harrison in Helena.

Char also leaves behind her "bestest buddy" Anne Stewart and sweet neighbor Julie Klinkhammer who came to her rescue so many times, as well as the caring community of Fairfield, her adopted home town. Condolences can be left on line at www.gorderjensenfuneralhome.com
